This Chair was an interesting repair, simple at first but revealing many needed repairs after the old finish was stripped away. The caning was removed and the right arm support at the front which was loose and rocking had to be properly and securely affixed. Their were many nicks, gouges and cracks in the wood that were filled and hidden by the dark stain finish; these had to be repaired with a closely matched filler. Some of the carvings were damaged and so had to be repaired and re-carved. The finishing Polyurethane Satin Varnish was applied in two layers.
The caning work will be done afterwards by another craftsman.
