This Chair was not too bad structurally in appearance before I removed the original dark finish; but as common with many of these imported old Asian chairs the shady workmanship was hidden behind the dark stain. Anyhow, I discovered one of the legs and arm was showing some movement at the joint and will eventually fail, so I ended up taking it out for repair. Their were many little flaws that were now visible and so these had to be filled to conceal them as much as possible. What is baffling is that the wood is so beautiful in its natural state and yet they hide it (poor workmanship) with the dark stains.

Following with some sanding the project was finished in Polyurethane Satin Varnish and the chair will now be sent to another craftsman for caning.
